Slot & live casino glossary
The terms used across the reviews and game guides, in one place. Definitions give the general meaning; a specific game's own rules screen is what binds for that game.
Basics
- Autoplay자동 플레이
A setting that runs a chosen number of spins without pressing the button each time, often with optional stop conditions. It changes how spins are started, not their results, and is not available in every version of a game.
- Balance잔액
The amount available for further bets, usually shown in a corner of the game screen. In a demo it is a virtual figure with no cash value.
- Base game기본 게임
The ordinary spinning state of a slot, outside any bonus or feature round. Some studios publish how much of the RTP comes from the base game versus features.
- Bet level베팅 레벨
In games that split the stake into settings, the number of coins placed per line or per spin. Together with coin value it sets the total bet; changing it changes the stake, not the game's rules.
- Coin value코인 가치
The money value of one coin in games that display bets and wins in coins. Total bet equals coins placed times coin value, so the same win can be shown in coins or in currency.
- Demo mode데모 모드
A version of the game played with virtual credits that have no cash value. A demo is still a specific build, so its RTP should be confirmed from the in-game info screen rather than assumed.
- Info screen게임 정보 화면
The rules pages inside the game, usually opened from an "i" or menu button. It is where the RTP and maximum win of the build actually open are normally printed; if a value is not there, it stays unverified.
- Line bet라인 베팅
In payline games, the amount assigned to each active line. The total bet is the line bet multiplied by the number of active lines, and some paytables list wins per line bet rather than per total bet.
- Paytable페이테이블
The in-game reference listing what each symbol combination pays and how features work. It describes the payout structure, not how often any combination appears.
- Reel릴
A vertical column of symbol positions that spins and stops independently. The number of reels is part of the grid format printed in the game's rules.
- Reel strip릴 스트립
The ordered sequence of symbols a reel draws from, including positions that never appear on screen at once. How often a symbol can land depends on the strip, which studios rarely publish.
- Row행
A horizontal line of visible symbol positions. A 5x3 grid has five reels and three rows; some formats change the number of rows per reel from spin to spin.
- Session세션
One continuous stretch of play, from opening a game to closing it. A session is a small sample: what happens in it describes that session only and says nothing about the next one.
- Spin스핀
One round of a slot: the stake is placed, the reels are set to a result, and any wins are evaluated against the paytable. Each spin is independent of the ones before it.
- Total bet총 베팅
The full amount placed on one spin or round. Win multiples such as "5,000x" are almost always written relative to this figure.
- Turbo mode터보 모드
A setting that shortens reel and win animations. It raises the number of spins per minute but does not change the outcome of any single spin.
Math & numbers
- Feature frequency피처 빈도
The theoretical average rate at which a feature round starts, often written as "1 in N spins". It is a long-run average; the gap before any particular trigger can be much shorter or longer.
- Felt volatility체감 변동성
A self-assigned impression of how swingy one session looked, separate from the studio's published grade. It is an observation record, not a forecast.
- Hit frequency적중률
The share of rounds that produce any payout. A hit can pay less than the stake, so a high hit frequency does not mean most rounds end ahead. Few studios publish it.
- House edge하우스 엣지
100% minus RTP: the long-run share of stakes the game keeps. It is the same information as RTP stated from the other side.
- Max win최대 배수
The largest amount one round can pay, written as a multiple of the total bet. It is a rule-book ceiling, not an expected outcome, and the probability of reaching it is seldom published.
- Observed return실측 환수
What a particular stretch of play actually returned. Over a short session it can sit far above or below the theoretical RTP, and neither result says anything about the next session.
- Payout지급액
The amount paid on a single win, before subtracting the stake. It differs from return: return (RTP) is a long-run ratio across all rounds, while a payout is one result, and a payout smaller than the stake is still counted as a hit.
- RNGRNG
The random number generator that determines each result in a digital game. Its output for one round does not depend on previous rounds, which is why past results carry no information about the next one.
- RTPRTP
Return to player: the share of all money staked that a game's mathematical model returns as winnings over a very large number of rounds. It is a long-run theoretical figure, not a forecast for a session.
- RTP configurationRTP 설정값
One of several builds of the same game set to different RTPs, with identical screen and rules. A studio spec sheet usually quotes the default configuration, which is not guaranteed to be the one running in a given lobby.
- RTP splitRTP 구성비
A breakdown of the total RTP into the part returned by the base game and the part returned by features. A large feature share means more of the return arrives in less frequent rounds.
- Theoretical return이론 환수
A value derived from the game's mathematical model rather than from recorded play. Published RTP, hit frequency and max win are theoretical values.
- Variance분산
The statistical measure behind volatility. In game material the two words are generally used interchangeably.
- Volatility변동성
How widely a game's results are spread: whether returns tend to come as many small wins or as fewer, larger ones. It summarises the shape of the payout structure and does not predict any result.
- Volatility index변동성 지수
A numeric volatility score some studios publish instead of, or alongside, a word grade. Each studio uses its own scale, so indices from different studios cannot be compared directly.
- Win cap당첨 상한
The rule that stops a round from paying beyond the max win. In many games, reaching the cap ends the round or feature immediately and pays the capped amount.
- Win multiple당첨 배수
A win expressed as a multiple of the total bet, such as 20x. It lets wins be compared across different stake sizes; it is unrelated to an in-game multiplier feature.
Features
- Ante bet앤티 베팅
An optional increase to the stake that changes a defined part of the game, most often making feature triggers more likely. The paytable states the extra cost and exactly what changes.
- Bonus buy보너스 구매
An option to pay a listed price, usually a multiple of the stake, to start a feature round immediately. Some games list a separate RTP for this option, and it is not included in every build of a game.
- Cash collect캐시 콜렉트
A mechanic in which a collector symbol gathers the values shown on cash symbols visible at the same time and pays their sum. The exact collection rules vary by game.
- Expanding wild확장 와일드
A wild that grows to cover its entire reel, or a larger area, when it lands. The trigger and extent of the expansion are set in the paytable.
- Feature round피처 라운드
Any special mode outside the base game, such as free spins or hold and win. Its internal rules are set out in the paytable and vary by game.
- Feature trigger피처 진입 조건
The condition that starts a feature round, most often a set number of scatter or bonus symbols landing in one spin. The exact condition is listed in the paytable.
- Fixed jackpot고정 잭팟
A top prize of a set size, usually a stated multiple of the stake, that does not grow with play. Many hold and win games label several fixed tiers such as Mini, Minor, Major and Grand.
- Free spins프리스핀
A feature round of spins played at the triggering stake without further deductions from the balance. Many games add modifiers during free spins, such as multipliers or sticky wilds; the rules vary by game.
- Gamble feature갬블 기능
An optional step after a win in which the win can be staked on a guess, such as a card's colour, to multiply it or lose it. It is always optional and is not offered in every version of a game.
- Hold and win홀드 앤 윈
A feature in which special symbols, often carrying cash values, lock in place while the remaining positions respin. A small respin count, often three, typically resets whenever a new special symbol lands, and the round ends when it runs out.
- Multiplier멀티플라이어
A game element that multiplies a win by a stated factor. It may attach to a symbol, a reel, a cascade step or a whole feature round, depending on the game.
- Nudge넛지
A shift of a reel by one or more positions after it stops, used by some games to move a symbol into view or complete a feature.
- Pick bonus선택형 보너스
A feature where the player chooses from hidden items to reveal prizes or modifiers. In digital games the outcome is set by the RNG, so the choice changes what is revealed on screen, not the expected return.
- Progressive jackpot프로그레시브 잭팟
A jackpot that grows as a small share of each qualifying stake is added to a pool, then resets to a starting value when won. The pool may be local to one game or shared across a network of games.
- Progressive multiplier누적 멀티플라이어
A multiplier that grows by a set step on each qualifying event, such as each cascade or each free spin. The paytable says what raises it and whether it resets.
- Random feature랜덤 피처
A modifier that can activate on any base-game spin without a trigger symbol, such as wilds added to the grid. The paytable describes what it does but rarely how often it occurs.
- Respin리스핀
An extra spin, triggered by a game event, in which some reels or symbols are held while the rest spin again. Respins are the building block of hold and win features.
- Retrigger재발동
Meeting a feature's trigger condition again while that feature is running, usually adding more spins. Whether retriggers exist, and how many spins they add, is set in the paytable.
- Sticky wild고정 와일드
A wild that stays in its position for a set number of spins or for the rest of a feature round, instead of spinning away.
- Symbol upgrade심볼 업그레이드
A feature that turns lower-paying symbols into higher-paying ones, or removes the lowest symbols from the reels, for a spin or for the rest of a feature.
- Walking wild이동 와일드
A wild that shifts one position, usually one reel sideways, on each subsequent spin or respin until it leaves the grid.
- Wheel bonus휠 보너스
A feature that spins a prize wheel whose segments award amounts, multipliers or entry to other features. Segment sizes on screen do not necessarily reflect their probabilities.
Formats
- 1,024 ways1,024 웨이즈
The ways count of a 5x4 grid: four visible rows on each of five reels gives 4^5 = 1,024 combinations.
- 243 ways243 웨이즈
The ways count of a 5x3 grid: three visible rows on each of five reels gives 3^5 = 243 combinations.
- Adjustable paylines가변 페이라인
A payline setup in which the number of active lines can be changed. With fixed paylines, every line is always active and only the stake per spin changes.
- Cascade캐스케이드
A mechanic in which winning symbols are removed and new symbols fall into the gaps, allowing further wins within the same paid spin. The chain ends when no new win forms.
- Classic 3-reel slot클래식 3릴 슬롯
A slot with three reels and few paylines, modelled on mechanical machines and typically using symbols such as fruit, bars and sevens. Features are usually minimal or absent.
- Cluster pays클러스터 페이
Evaluation by groups of matching symbols that touch horizontally or vertically, with the pay set by cluster size. There are no lines; a minimum cluster size is stated in the paytable.
- Expanding reels확장 릴
A layout that adds rows or reels during play, usually during a feature, which increases the number of lines or ways in play.
- Grid slot그리드 슬롯
A slot laid out as a larger square or rectangular grid, such as 6x6 or 7x7, rather than a classic reel row. Grid slots commonly use cluster pays or pay anywhere together with cascades.
- Maxways맥스웨이즈
A name some studios use for their own variable-ways format, in which reel heights and the ways count change from spin to spin. How it works differs by studio, so each game's paytable is the reference.
- Megaways메가웨이즈
A licensed ways format in which the number of symbols on each reel changes every spin, so the ways count changes too. The maximum count depends on each game's layout.
- Pay anywhere페이 애니웨어
Evaluation by how many matching symbols appear anywhere on the grid, regardless of position or adjacency. The paytable lists the minimum count and pay for each symbol.
- Paylines페이라인
Fixed paths across the grid, defined in the paytable, on which matching symbols must land to pay. Most payline games evaluate from the leftmost reel to the right.
- Pays both ways양방향 지급
A rule that evaluates combinations from right to left as well as from left to right, so a match starting on the rightmost reel can also pay.
- Video slot비디오 슬롯
A digitally animated slot, most often with five or more reels and one or more feature rounds. It is the default format for most current online slots.
- Ways to win웨이즈
Line-free evaluation in which a matching symbol on each adjacent reel, in any row, forms a win. The ways count is the number of possible combinations: the product of the visible rows on every reel.
Symbols
- Blank빈칸
An empty position on a reel strip that pays nothing. Blanks are common in classic slots and in hold and win grids, where they fill positions without a special symbol.
- Bonus symbol보너스 심볼
A symbol whose role is to trigger a specific bonus feature. Some games use the scatter for this; others have a separate bonus symbol that only counts on certain reels.
- Cash symbol캐시 심볼
A symbol that displays its own value, usually a multiple of the stake, which is paid when it is collected or when a feature ends. Common in hold and win and cash collect games.
- Collector symbol수집 심볼
A symbol that, when it lands, gathers the values of cash symbols on screen. The paytable states whether it must appear on a particular reel or alongside a particular symbol.
- High-pay symbols고배당 심볼
The symbols with the largest pays in the paytable, usually themed characters or objects. Their exact frequency on the reels is set by the reel strips and is rarely published.
- Low-pay symbols저배당 심볼
The symbols with the smallest pays, often card ranks from 10 to A or simple gems. They make up much of what lands on screen in a typical spin.
- Multiplier symbol멀티플라이어 심볼
A symbol that carries a multiplier value and applies it to wins from the same spin or cascade sequence. Whether several multiplier symbols add or multiply together depends on the game.
- Mystery symbol미스터리 심볼
A placeholder symbol that is revealed after the reels stop. In most games every mystery symbol on screen turns into the same randomly chosen symbol.
- Scatter스캐터
A symbol counted by quantity anywhere on the grid rather than on a line or way. It most often triggers a feature, and in some games also pays on its own.
- Stacked symbols스택 심볼
Symbols that occupy several consecutive positions on a reel strip, so they can fill part or all of a reel at once.
- Wild와일드
A symbol that substitutes for other symbols to complete a win. The paytable lists which symbols it cannot replace, commonly scatters and bonus symbols.
Live casino
- American roulette미국식 룰렛
Roulette on a wheel with 38 pockets: the numbers 1 to 36, a zero and a double zero. With the same payouts as the European wheel, the extra pocket gives it a lower RTP.
- Banker, Player, Tie뱅커·플레이어·타이

A live blackjack option to bet on another seated player's hand without controlling its decisions. Unlimited-seat formats instead let many participants act on the same dealt hand.
- Betting window베팅 시간
The countdown during which bets can be placed on a live round. When it closes, no more bets are accepted and the round is dealt.
- Blackjack (natural)블랙잭(내추럴)
An ace and a ten-value card as the first two cards, totalling 21. Its payout ratio is printed on the table, commonly 3 to 2.
- Burn card번 카드
A card taken from the top of the shoe and set aside, unused, usually after shuffling. It is a dealing procedure and does not change the game's rules.
- Bust버스트
A blackjack hand whose total goes over 21, which loses immediately.
- Commission커미션
In standard baccarat, a share taken from winning Banker bets, commonly 5%. No-commission tables drop it and instead change the payout on certain Banker wins, as stated in the table rules.
- Cut card컷 카드
A plastic card placed in the shoe to mark where the current shoe ends; when it is reached, the cards are reshuffled.
- Double down더블 다운
A blackjack option to double the original stake in exchange for receiving exactly one more card. Which totals allow it varies by table.
- Dragon Tiger드래곤 타이거
A two-hand card game in which one card is dealt to Dragon and one to Tiger, and the higher card wins. Tie and side-bet payouts are set in the table rules.
- European roulette유럽식 룰렛
Roulette on a wheel with 37 pockets: the numbers 1 to 36 and a single zero.
- Even-money bets이븐 머니 베팅
Roulette bets that pay 1 to 1, such as red or black, odd or even, and 1–18 or 19–36. The zero pocket belongs to none of them.
- First-person game1인칭 게임
A term some studios use for RNG-driven versions of live table games, presented in a rendered studio view without a live dealer. Results come from a random number generator rather than physical cards or a wheel.
- French roulette프렌치 룰렛
Single-zero roulette with a French-style layout, often played with La Partage or En Prison, rules that return half of an even-money bet, or hold it for the next spin, when zero comes up. Which rule applies is stated at the table.
- Game show게임쇼
A live format built around a presenter and a physical device such as a large wheel, often with bonus rounds. Payouts and segment counts are set out in the game's rules.

A blackjack hand with no ace, or with an ace that can only count as 1, so it has a single total.

- Live dealer라이브 딜러
A real person running a table game on a streamed video feed, dealing cards or spinning the wheel. Results come from the physical cards or wheel rather than a reel strip.
- Push푸시
A blackjack result in which player and dealer finish with equal totals; the stake is returned.
- Roadmap로드맵
The grid of past results shown at baccarat and similar tables. It is a record of what already happened; each new round is dealt independently of the patterns on it.

A table that runs the same game with a shorter interval between rounds. Rules and payouts match the standard table; what changes is the number of rounds per hour.
- Split스플릿
A blackjack option to separate two cards of the same value into two hands, placing a second stake equal to the first. Re-splitting and split-ace rules vary by table.
- Squeeze스퀴즈
A baccarat presentation style in which cards are revealed slowly by bending or peeling them. It changes the pace and presentation of the reveal, not the outcome.
- Straight up스트레이트 업
A roulette bet on a single number. On standard wheels it pays 35 to 1.
- Table limits테이블 한도
